PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to more precisely confirm how reliably the displayed first candidate is selected. SOLUTION: When only the first candidate of a KANA/KANJI converting result with respect to an input character string is displayed on a screen, the reliability of the first candidate is found and displayed to confirm its degree. Then a first candidate of high reliability is displayed in blue and a first candidate of low reliability is displayed in red. Concerning the degree of reliability, a conversion candidate of the highest converting precision K to each conversion candidate is made a first candidate. When the converting precision K1 of the first candidate is not lower than a prescribed value H1 and the deviation K of conversion precision between with a second candidate of second highest conversion precision is not smaller than a prescribed value H2, the reliability of the first candidate is judged to be high but excepting for it, the reliability is judged to be low.
