PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and quickly decide the section shape of a forged parts in its preprocess by deciding the shape of a new forged parts in its preprocess based on the difference between the shape of an existing forged parts having its known shape and the shape of the parts decided in its preprocess. ;SOLUTION: The final forged parts shape is read (step 1), the synthetic section number N is decided (step 2) and a retrieval range is set among the existing forged parts (step 3). Then M=1 (M: each process step described in data base D) is defined (step 4) and a similar parts is selected (step 5). Then K=1 (K: number of sections to be synthesized) is defined (step 6), the contour shapes are read for a new forged parts and the similar parts and also the contour shape of the similar parts decided in its preprocess (step 7) and these contour shapes are synthesized (step 8). If the new forged parts is not axial symmetry, a due process is repeated until the necessary number N is obtained (step 9). Then a total shape of the new forded parts is decided in its preprocess (step 11). Furthermore, these processes are repeated (steps 12, 13 and 14) to decide an intermediate shape of the new forged parts.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
