PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault detection method which certainly executes test and diagnosis in all information processors to quickly detect a fault and realizes a system having a high availability with respect to a system consisting of many information processors. SOLUTION: Each information processor is provided with a means 12 which executes the test and diagnosis of the information processor itself, a means 11 which reports the execution result of test and diagnosis of the information processor itself and instructs another information processor to execute test and diagnosis and monitors the execution result of test and diagnosis in another information processor, and a means 13 which monitors time intervals of execution of test and diagnosis in the information processor itself; and when the execution of test and diagnosis is instructed during the execution of test and diagnosis, execution of test and diagnosis of another information processor is not newly instructed, and this instruction is integrated with test and diagnosis which are executed at present.
