PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new antibody, capable of specifically bonding to a rat type 1 plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI-1) and useful for determination and detection of the rat PAI-1 and elucidation, etc., of functions of the PAI-1 in vivo. ;SOLUTION: This new monoclonal antibody is capable of specifically bonding to a rat type 1 plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI-1) and useful for determination and detection of the rat PAT-1 in a specimen or a tissue without being influenced by a cross reactional product, analysis of the kinetics of the PAI-1 in a morbid state model, elucidation, etc., of functions of the PAI-1 in vivo. The monoclonal antibody is obtained by administering an activated purified rat PAI-1 as an antigen to a BALB/c mouse, etc., for immunization, collecting a cell of the antigenically stimulated spleen, fusing the cell to a cell of a myeloma, then culturing the fused cell in a selective culture medium, providing a hybridoma, selecting a strain capable of producing the desired antibody, cloning the strain and culturing the resultant clone.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
