METHOD OF DETERMINING WAKE EDDY TURBULENT FLOW OR ATMOSPHERIC TURBULENT FLOW IN SHORT TIME, AND LIGHT SCINTILLOMETER FOR IMPARTING CORRECTED OUTPUT TO WAKE EDDRY AIR TURBULENT FLOW OR AIR TURBULENT FLOW
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light scintillometer operated so as to measure the atmospheric turbulence intensity to a distance of 10km. SOLUTION: A light scintillometer 100 performs the actual time continuous measurement of turbulence intensity in an operating site by use of a transmitter 14, a receiver 16, and a digital processing circuit 20. A signal is digitized before comparison with a threshold to remove the event resulted from an object passing the route of the optical transmitter and receiver. The system performs the regulating calculation of a primary logarithm-amplitude dispersion function in saturated form. The atmospheric turbulence may be a wake vortex by airplane or a one by atmospheric condition. By comparison with a digitized threshold signal, invalid signal input is eliminated from route average turbulence intensity calculation, whereby the quality of data in refracted turbulence intensity calculation can be ensured even if it is obstructed by infrared beam.
