PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid which is exclusively used for graining, and makes it possible to not only freely select grain patterns, hues, lightnesses, etc., but also apply a grain pattern excellent in the degree of completeness without the necessity for high expertise, with little training time, independent of materials and shapes to which it is desired to apply by forming a water-soluble liquid comprising a blend of yellow and red dyes with a black carbonaceous material, a starch, a perfume and a glue. ;SOLUTION: This liquid comprises a brown water-soluble liquid obtained by blending yellow and red dyes with a black carbonaceous material, a starch, a perfume and a glue, wherein other coloring matter particles, etc., are nonuniformly bonded to the carbonaceous material particles. This liquid is used for drawing a desired grain pattern with an exclusive writing brush on the surface of a material to which it is applied and which has been coated with a yellowish white coating after undercoating, the pattern is colored in a desired color tone with a colored coating material exclusively subjected to color matching, a clear coating material for top coating is applied thereon, and the coated surface is polished with a finishing polish, thus making it possible to represent a grain pattern with high degree of completeness.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
