OPTICAL HEAD CARRYING DEVICE FOR CD-ROM DRIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move an optical head to a target track while suppressing vibration at high speed with a simple and inexpensive system by directly driving the optical head by rotation of a motor rod and moving it. ;SOLUTION: A gear 12 is decelerated by the rotation of a motor 10 through a motor gear 11 and rotated. Then, a rod 13 of which one end part is formed integrally with the gear 12 is also rotated centering a rotation center shaft 16. The other end part of the rod 13 is inserted into an optical head 14 so as to be able to slide, and the optical head 14 is moved straightly along a guide 15 by the rotation of the rod 13. As the radius of rotation of an inserting part of the rod 13 is larger than the radius of rotation of the gear 12, a moving distance of the inserting part of the rod 13 is longer than a moving distance of a point on an outer periphery of the gear 12 in the same time. Therefore, high speed movement of the optical head 14 can be performed by a small rotation angle of the motor 10.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
