PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To incorporate a central monitoring and controlling device with functions such as analysis of operation data in a mud-water conveying facility in a mud-water pressurized shield tunneling system, computation of a required total pressure head, and prediction as to addition of a pump. ;SOLUTION: A central monitoring and controlling device 16 is incorporated with a managing device for adding a mud feed and discharge pump in a mud-water conveying facility in a mud-water pressurized shield tunneling system. The central monitoring and controlling device 16 incorporates an operation data extracting and storing function for continuously extracting and storing operation data from the mud- water conveying facility, an analyzing and computing function for analyzing pipe line losses on the mud feed side and the mud discharge side with respect to an excavated distance, from the extracted and stored operation data, so as to compute required pressure heads on the mud feed side and the mud discharge side, and a pump addition predicting function for comparing the required pressure heads obtained by the analyzing and computing function, with a pump characteristic so as to predict addition of mud feed and discharge pumps 3, 4.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
