PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a user and application software easily recognize a stored storage medium by displaying the kind of the storage medium decided according to information set on the storage medium. ;SOLUTION: When an electronic information storage device 100 is actuated, a control part 206 decides whether or not a detection part 203 has detected the storage medium. When the storage medium has been detected, the control part 206 decides that the storage medium is present in the electronic information storage device 100. When the decision is thus made, a medium kind code read part 202 reads a medium kind code out of the storage medium. The control part 206 displays whether or not the storage medium present in the electronic information storage device 100 is a storage medium for image save and carry data or general data by using display parts L1 and L2, and finishes the process at actuation time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
