CHANNEL CAPACITY CONTROL SYSTEM FOR ATM PRIVATE BRANCH OF EXCHANGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent useless use of a channel and an excessive channel utility charge from being caused due to a request of a required channel capacity. ;SOLUTION: A traffic of a virtual path connecting to an ATM network is measured and the measured data are stored in a general-purpose computer 7 for traffic control, the data stored in the general-purpose computer 7 are processed statistically so as to generate traffic data for each time. Based on the traffic data generated as above, a required channel capacity of the ATM network 10 required for each prescribed time is computed by the general-purpose computer 7 and the capacity is informed to the ATM network by using the control virtual path based on the calculated value. Since the required channel capacity is requested to the ATM network 10 by measuring automatically the traffic of the ATM channel connecting to the ATM network 10, it is not required to make a contract of undesirably much channel capacity and the transmission efficiency with respect to the transmission performance is improved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
