Delithiated cobalt oxide phase and nickel oxide phase, and methods for producing them

LiCoO2 and LiNiO2 are fully delithiated electrochemically using solid state electrolytic cells and oxidation resistant electrolytes to yield new phases of CoO2 and NiO2.
