PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 2-high tandem mill with which the length of line and threading time are shortened and the meandering of a rolled stock is prevented. ;SOLUTION: This mill is a roughing mill R of hot rolling equipment between the upper work roll 1 and the lower work roll 2 of which a slab 50 is passed and rolled and, in a tandem arrangement that at least two housingless 2-high rolling mills supporting both shaft end parts of the upper work roll 1 (11) and lower work rolls 2 (12) with frames 3 (13) are arranged, the two mills are proximately arranged so that distances between both upper work rolls 1, 11 and between both lower work rolls 2, 12 are shortend to the minimum.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
