METHOD FOR EVALUATING DEGREE OF MIXTURE FOR CERAMIC MATERIAL MIXED POWDER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To represent the degree of mixture numerically and conveniently by subjecting a mixed powder to X-ray diffraction measurement after heat treatment and employing the peak intensity ratio of diffraction from a substance increasing the volume through heat treatment and from a substance decreasing the volume through heat treatment as an index of the degree of mixture. SOLUTION: An X-ray diffraction peak caused by a material substance being left alter heat treatment without reacting completely and an X-ray diffraction peak caused by a substance produced through heat treatment of a substance insuceptible to heat treatment are determined accurately and the ratio thereof is determined accurately. Reaction proceeding actively between different materials is interrupted and heat treatment is performed for a short time under high temperature rather than for a long time under low temperature when the residual material and the reaction products are mixed by substantially same extent. When heat treatment is performed in such a manner, the degree of mixture of the mixed powder exhibits a high correlation with the X-ray diffraction peak ratio. According to the method, the degree of mixture can be represented numerically from the diffraction peak ratio and the degree of mixture of ceramic material powder can be evaluated easily.
