COSMETIC COMPOSITION CONTAINING EXTRACT OF CHESTNUT BUR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic composition excellent in safety and effective in skin-improving and beautifying effect by including an extract of chestnut bur. SOLUTION: This cosmetic composition is obtained by washing bur of chesnut which is fruit of a plant of the genus Castanea [e.g. Castanea crenata S. et Z., Castanea mollisima B1. or Castanea bulgaris]with clean water and drying the bur, finely pulverizing the bur, adding water, acetone, ethylacetate, diethyl ether, benzene, chloroform, hexane or a 1-4C lower alcohol or mixture of water with each solvent to the resultant powder, subjecting the powder to an extraction treatment with the solvent at 50-95 deg.C for 1-20hr or at 5-40C for 1-15 day to afford an extract and including the extract in an amount of 0.001-10wt.% based on the dried weight of the cosmetic.
