PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining a solid phase color developing matter containing coexisting color developing matter in which accurate determination results can be obtained as compared with conventional method for determining a color developing matter. ;SOLUTION: A test paper 21 (solid phase sample) containing an objective color developing matter and a coexisting color developing matter is irradiated with a light having a specified spectral distribution from a light source 11. The chromaticity coordinate and the quantity of reflected light from the test paper 21 are then measured by means of a tristimulus value measuring unit 12. Based on the measured chromaticity coordinate, previously measured chromaticity coordinate of a color developing matter, the chromaticity coordinate of a coexisting color developing matter and the chromaticity coordinate of a light from the light source 1, the quantity of component of reflected light from the color developing matter contained in the reflected light from the test paper 21 is calculated and the content of color developing matter is determined based on the quantity of light thus calculated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
