PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an estrus and ovulation inducing agent containing a chitin as an active ingredient, having effects capable of inducing the estrus extremely resembling a natural estrus and the ovulation by dosing the one into a uterus of female livestock such as a cow, a horse, a pig. ;SOLUTION: This estrus and ovulation inducing agent contains a chitin, preferably having a fine powdery shape having ≤500μm particle diameter and β-type crystal structure as an active ingredient. The chitin is obtained by purifying a cuticule of crustaceans such as a crab and a shrimp, a gladius of a squid, an external skeleton of an insect, etc. The estrus and ovulation inducing agent is obtained, e.g. by dissolving the purified chitin in a dissolvable solvent such as hydrogen chloride, forming into the fine powdery shape by an addition, etc., of a large amount of water therein to form a colloidal chitin and suspending the resultant fine powdery chitin in a suitable dispersion medium.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
