摘要
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a specified carbodiimide as a stabilizer for an ester-base resin against hydrolysis, which has an excellent compatibility, which can be easily added, and which is capable of sufficiently exhibiting the effect of resisting hydrolysis owing to its high mol.wt. SOLUTION: A carbodiimide is obtained by heating 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate of formula I, isophorone diisocyanate of formula II or a mixture of them at 150 to 200 deg.C under stirring in the presence of a carbodiimidation catalyst (such as 3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-phospholene-1-oxide) in an inert gas stream. The average degree of polymerization is 2 to 30. The carbodiimide with its end blocked with a primary or secondary amine, a carboxylic acid, an acid anhydride or a monoisocyanate is also usable. The amount of the carbodimide added to an ester-base resin (such as a polyester polyurethane or polyethylene terephthalate) is 0.01 to 5wt.%.
