PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make possible to correct the direction of a small-caliber pipe by reducing component members required therefor and improve the excavated earth discharging capacity with regard to a method of correcting deviation of the course of excavation in relation to a designed line in a sludge pressure auger type small-caliber pipe laying machine. ;SOLUTION: The moving cutter 15a of a cutter 15 that is driven rotationally, cut a small-diameter working face arc C, by reducing the excavation diameter R, in a direction deviating from the course of excavation (upward) during one rotation and cut a large-diameter working face arc C2 by expanding to the original excavation diameter R at the time of direct advance excavation in the opposite direction (downward). A tapered cylinder section 11b formed in a leading pipe 11 pressed against the head 11a side, is pushed forward in a sliding contact state with the small diameter working facet arc C1 by given pressure and thrust, the resulting wedge force drives the tapered cylinder section 11b toward the large diameter working face arc C2 while changing its direction toward the large diameter face C2, curving toward an arrow F and thereby corrects the deviation of the course of excavation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
