PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify operation by a user by displaying a setting procedure picture only for a setting function item selected necessarily for the user when there are plural setting function items. ;SOLUTION: Based on menu picture information, various kinds of setting procedure picture information and program guidance information or the like stored in a storage device 9, a program guidance image generating circuit 4 prepares respective required images on a display memory. Then, these respective images are successively read out and displayed through a multiplexer 7 onto a display 8. Based on a control signal from a CPU, this multiplexer 7 selects either the output of a video processing circuit 3 or the output of the program guidance image generating circuit 4 and supplies it to the display 8. When selecting any prescribed selection item, a cursor is moved onto the prescribed selection item by cursor move keys 12L, 12R, 12U and 12D and a select key 13 is pushed later.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
