PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pyroelectric type infrared-ray sensor and a pyroelectric type infrared-ray sensor system which can detect movement, moving direction, position, etc., of a thermal object with simplified structure and high sensitivity. SOLUTION: Infrared-ray detection elements 1a to 1c for 1CH, infrared-ray detection elements 2a to 2c for 2CH and infrared-ray detection elements 3a to 3c for 3CH are arranged respectively at a specified interval of distance within one-dimensionally arranged detection areas 6a, 6b and 6c. When a mapping 10 of the thermal object moves in the areas, its movement is detected through the change in level of channel signal outputting from the connected three infrared-ray detection elements within the area, and the onedimensional moving direction of the object is detected according to the output order of channels outputting the channel signals. In addition, two-dimensional moving direction can be also detected in such a structure that the detection areas are arranged two-dimensionally.
