PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Raschig ring with high shape retainability, further higher reactivity, and relatively light weight and to provide a method for manufacturing the Raschig ring. ;SOLUTION: This method is for manufacturing a Raschig ring and comprises processes of immersing a substrate of an inorganic fibrous body consisting of an oxide having the composition formula AOx as a main component in a solution produced by dissolving a photocatalyst precursor, which becomes an oxide BOy by heating, together with an organic resin in a compatible solvent, and then drying and calcining the resultant substrate to coat the substrate with an oxide through a bonding layer consisting of A-O-B. As the inorganic fibrous body, an inorganic fibrous sleeve is used and after the sleeve is formed into a cylindrical shape, the sleeve is dried and calcined at the temperature within a range from 200 to 600°C.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
