In the operation of the blast furnace having the above structure, in the case the temp. shown in a temp. sensor arranged at the side wall part of the furnace hearth at the lower part from the iron tapping hole level shows the rising tendency and the temp. shown in a temp. sensor arranged at the center part of the furnace bottom shows the lowering tendency, the iron and slag are tapped from the upper and the lower iron and slag tapping holes at the same time and at the point of time when the slag tapping from the upper iron and slag tapping hole completes, the lower iron tapping hole is plugged. Further, during the operation, when the temp. shown in the temp. sensor arranged in the side wall part of the furnace hearth at the lower part from the iron tapping hole level changes to the lowering tendency and the temp. shown in the temp. sensor arranged at the center part of the furnace bottom stops the temp. lowering or changes to the rising tendency, the iron and slag tapping from the lower iron and slag tapping hole is executed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
