PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To favorably form a gas mixture in a direct injection type gasoline internal combustion engine while a required fuel injection quantity is positively injected at the starting time when fuel pressure is low. SOLUTION: When a start switch is ON (S2), discrimination between cylinders is completed (S3), and complete combustion is not reached (S4), the engine speed at that time is predicted based on the frequency of injection (the number of cycles) after starting the engine (S6). The injection pulse width at the time of starting the engine, is converted to a crank angle, and based on a target injection completion timing and the crank angle equivalent to the injection pulse width, an injection starting timing for terminating the injection at the target injection completion timing, is determined.
