PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable direct phone call to a guard room, where a telephone set for a trunk line speech is not usually installed because there is not direct relation between a guard room speech function and a trunk line speech function, from an external device by forming a speech line to the guard room from the external device. ;SOLUTION: The method executes steps (28-30) where a speech channel is formed in response to an incoming call from a trunk line and a reply is automatically made, steps 32-34 where upon the receipt of a password from the trunk line in response to the automatic reply, whether or not the received password is correct is checked, steps (38-50) where whether or not a setting key signal designating a guard room calling is received from the trunk line is detected when the password is correct, and steps (54-56) where the trunk line and a guard room line are connected when the signal designating a call to the guard room is detected to call the guard room.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
