PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a quinacridone pigment. ;SOLUTION: A reaction mixture which comprises an ingredient (i) comprising 2,5-dianilinoterephthalic acid, a 2,5-dianilino-6,13-dihydroterephthalic ester, and/or a derivative thereof, a dehydrant (ii) in an amount of about 3-15 pts.wt. per pt. of the ingredient (i), and at least one nonquinacridone pigment (iii) in an amount of about 0.1-15wt.% based on the ingredient (i) is heated at about 80-145°C. When the ingredient (i) is the ester or derivative thereof, the above step is followed by the oxidation step. The reaction mixture is then added to a liquid in which the resultant quinacridone pigment is substantially insoluble in such a proportion that the amount of the liquid is about 3-15 pts.wt. per pt. of the ingredient (i). The quinacridone pigment is isolated, if necessary conditioned, and if necessary blended with one or more quinacridone derivatives.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
