PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum or aluminum alloy material restraining entrapment of the oxide film produced on molten metal surface into a cast block, having excellent surface quality and reducing the development of casting crack. ;SOLUTION: A bottom base 8 is brought into contact with a mold 2 and a slag removal frame 1 is arranged in the mold 2, and a glass cloth 5 is arranged at the lower part of the molten metal pouring nozzle 4a in the slag removal frame 1, and the slag removal frame 1 is constituted with a frame member of four sides. In a range of ≥2/3 of the center part in the wide surface side 2a of the mold 2, the interval between the mold 2 and the slag removal frame 1 is formed so as to become ≤70mm. At the time of pouring molten aluminum 3 into the mold 2 through the molten metal pouring nozzle 4a from a trough 4 after filling the molten alumnum 3 into the trough 4, the slag removal frame 1 is floated up to the surface of the molten metal 3 so that the dipping depth of the slag removal frame 1 into the molten metal 3 becomes ≥10mm.
