PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a yarn from jumping off a traveler when lifting a ring rail in order to wind the yarn in an oblique looped state at the time of starting spinning machinery and reduce the occurrence of yarn breakage. ;SOLUTION: A spindle is rotated at a lower prescribed rotational frequency than that during the usual winding simultaneously with the start of the operation of a spinning frame to keep a yarn engaging with a traveler in a state for applying a tension thereto. When the spindle is changed into rotation at a prescribed low speed, a ring rail is lifted from a position HO for starting the usual winding to a prescribed position HS for forming the oblique loop winding and stopped at the prescribed position HS for a prescribed time TS2. The ring rail is lowered to the position HO for starting the usual winding, reversed at the position HO for starting the usual winding and then lifted and lowered by a usual chase length to perform the prescribed chase motion.
