PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an NOx removing catalytic material capable of removing NOx even in a waste gas having a high content of oxygen and nor needing a highly poisonous reducing agent such as ammonia, an NOx treating device using the material and an NOx removing method. SOLUTION: The multiple oxide constituting an NOx removing catalytic material contains Al, Ga and Zn as metallic elements and has a spinel crystal structure at 0x50, where (x) is the molar fraction of Zn, expressed in terms of its oxide. The catalytic material and the hydrocarbons such as methane and propylene as the reducing agent are brought into contact with a gas contg. NOx, and the NOx in an exhaust gas of an automobile, for example, are reduced and removed.
