SCAVENGING OF ENDOTOXIN AND REMOVAL OF ENDOTOXIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove an endotoxin mixed in a pharmaceutical preparation by scavenging the endotoxin by using a phospholipid, suppressing the biological activity thereof and then removing the phospholipid. ;SOLUTION: A phospholipid such as dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine or dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine is added to a liquid containing an endotoxin and then emulsified and dispersed therein to efficiently scavenge the endotoxin in the phospholipid. Furthermore, the phospholipid can be filtered or centrifuged to remove the endotoxin. Thereby, the endotoxin activity of the liquid containing the endotoxin can be suppressed or removed without being influenced by salts in the solution according to simple operations.
