METHOD OF PRECLUDING SHELLFISH FROM STICKING TO ECHO SOUNDER TRANSDUCER FOR ALONGSIDE PIER SPEED METER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preventing shellfishes from sticking to echo sounder transducers of an alongside pier speed meter used for laying a vessel such as a tanker alongside the berth (pier). ;SOLUTION: There are provided with echo sounder transducers 23, 24 of alongside pier speed meter 21 used for permitting a vessel such as a tanker to come alongside the berth in substantially parallel from the lateral direction to the stationary legs of berth in the sea. Following this, oscillators 30, 31 of a ultrasonic cleaner 26 are installed at the stationary legs of the berth below the echo sounder transducers, and the oscillations 30, 31 are activated regularly for a predetermined period of time except when the speed meter 21 is in operation for generating cavitation. Herein, such cavitation is hit against the oscillation surface of the echo sounder transducers 23, 24, thereby cleaning up the oscillation surface of the echo sounder transducers.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
