PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To breed a yeast having improved performance and to obtain a yeast useful for the production of foods and drinks by transducing a specified DNA into a monoploid yeast cell, treating the cell under specified conditions and selecting a yeast which causes dissociation of yeast telomere. ;SOLUTION: A DNA on a linear strand having such a structure that a yeast centromere, marker gene which expresses in a yeast cell, and two telomeres having the terminals facing each other are configurated between two DNAs which are obtd. by cleaving a DNA fragment as an integrating target on a yeast chromosome is transduced into a monoploid yeast cell. Such yeast is selected that homologous recombination between the cleaved integrating target DNA fragment on a yeast chromosome and the homologous region on the chromosome of the DNA is effected and that dissociation of the two yeast telomeres configurated at the terminals on the chromosome facing each other is caused. It is preferable to select such yeast cells that one of cleaved chromosomes is lost and to produce a yeast.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
