ZEOLITE MEMBRANE, ITS PRODUCTION AND SEPARATION OF GAS MIXTURE BY USING ZEOLITE MEMBRANE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a zeolite membrane effective for selective separation of a gas from a gas mixture by making zeolite have a specific structure by a specific method. ;SOLUTION: This zeolite membrane comprises a surface layer of polycrystalline zeolite formed on a porous substrate, and an anchor layer of polycrystalline zeolite which is formed in pores in the near-surface layer of the porous substrate under the surface layer. This zeolite membrane is produced through processes of making zeolite particulates adhere to the porous outside surface of the porous substrate, and forming a zeolite membrane in the substrate surface. Preferably the zeolite particulates to adhere to the membrane are mainly composed of X-type zeolite, and the zeolite membrane is of Y type. This membrane is particularly effective for separation of carbon dioxide from combustion exhaust gas (a mixed gas of carbon dioxide and gaseous nitrogen).;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
