PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for opening strands and a opening apparatus by which each strand mutually arranged parallel in row and successively traveling in the longitudinal direction is opened to a thin, wide and even state having no aperture. ;SOLUTION: This method for opening strands S by pressing the strands S mutually arranged parallel in row and successively traveling in the longitudinal direction to an opening bar 1 to 7 and opening the strands S to a flat structure when producing a prepreg is performed by using the opening bars 1 to 7 having a prescribed flexural modulus resisting to the tension of the whole strands S and further having round corners 1a to 7a on the periphery surface along the axis directions and pressing the each strand S to the each round corner 1a to 7a of the opening bars 1 to 7.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
