PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a silk fiber excellent in the touch feeling, feeling of wearing, shape memorizing, warmth retaining and moisture releasing properties and air holding power by removing a chrysalis, then degumming a cocoon, subsequently carrying out the graft copolymerization of a monoethylenically unsaturated group-containing monomer onto the resultant cocoon and fixing the cocoon into the shape of infinity mark unique to the silk. ;SOLUTION: This silk fiber is obtained by removing a chrysalis, then sufficiently degumming a cocoon, carrying out the graft copolymerization of a monomer having a monoethylenically unsaturated group such as acrylamide or glycidyl methacrylate onto the resultant cocoon. The silk fiber has 30-50wt.% graft ratio. Furthermore, the silk fiber is preferably used as a silk cotton.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
