PURPOSE:To surely release a blake plate on a stringing process by pressing the string-pressing side of the brake formed into a reverse chevron-shape and pressing the reverse side thereof with an operation cam. CONSTITUTION:A string-braking device is composed of a brake plate 9 bent in a reverse chevron-shaped state and a brake spring 10 for braking a string in a nipping state. A lever 11 is connected to a string tension device 6 and an operation 12 is disposed at the base plate of the lever 11 so as to enable to press the press plate 9. When the lever 11 is pressed down before a stringing operation, the string tension device 6 is moved down to reach a position facing the passageway of the string and the brake plate 9 is released upward.
