PURPOSE:To facilitate the understanding of a fundamental knowledge of oxidation-reduction by forming unit cells or flow passages with a transparent material so that an oxidation-reduction reaction involving color change can be seen from the outside. CONSTITUTION:A positive solution and a negative solution which perform an oxidation-reduction reaction in an electrolyte and change color by the oxidation- reduction reaction are circulated in flow-type cells. A specified value of current is passed in cells 1 to perform oxidation-reduction reaction, that is charge- discharge reaction. Since the positive solution and the negative solution consists of a redox ion pair which is ionized in an aqueous solution, the oxidation- reduction reaction progresses stoichometrically on electrodes. Since the positive solution and the negative solution involving color change by oxidation-reduction reaction are used and unit cells 1 or flow passages 17a, 17b are formed with a transparent material, color change attendant on oxidation-reduction reaction can be seen from the outside. The understanding of fundamental knowledge relating to oxidation-reduction is facilitated at an educational site.
