PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To greatly improve the absorption capacity and the cooling efficiency by setting the sectional shape of a pipe body to be oblong or elliptical, and forming a fin having a prescribed angle relative to the axis of the pipe on an inner surface of the pipe body. ;SOLUTION: In a heat transfer pipe 1, a spiral fin 3 is provided on an inner surface of a heat transfer pipe body 2 whose sectional shape is oblong or elliptical, and the spiral fin 3 at an end part of the major diameter of the ellipse is a corrugated fin 3a. The spiral fin 3 is preferably formed of 3mm in pitch and 75° in angle of twist. The absorption liquid flows along the inner wall of the heat transfer pipe body 2, and steam is introduced inside. The heat of the inner water and the fin 3 is absorbed by the flowing-down absorption liquid, and the absorbed heat is cooled with the cooling air or water from the outside of the heat transfer pipe body 2.
