PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a solid lubricant for plastic working, comprising a specific water-dispersible film-forming component, capable of improving the water resistance without deteriorating the press moldability, degreasing, rust preventing, blocking and welding properties, etc., and useful when carrying out the press molding, etc., of a cold rolled steel sheet, a plated steel plate, etc. SOLUTION: This solid lubricant comprises a water-dispersible film-forming component containing (A) a nonionic type polymeric activator such as a polyoxyethylene 8-22C alkyl ether, (B) a rust preventing agent such as a compound of the formula R-SO2 NHCOOM [R is a 10-18C alkyl, etc.; M is an alkali metal; (n) is 1-3], (C) an organic low-molecular compound (salt), having 800-8000 average molecular weight and synthesized by blending (C1 ) an aliphatic mercapto compound such as a 4-18C alkyl mercaptan (e.g. a copolymer of an unsaturated nitrile) and (D) a carboxyl-containing organic polymeric compound having =8000 average molecular weight.
