CONVERSION SYSTEM FOR USER DEFINITION CHARACTER FILE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly use the external characters which are produced in the past in other operating systems by performing the conversion of data to change a file of a different form into a file of its own operating system form. SOLUTION: An external storage medium 8i to be converted is selected out of the external storage media 8a to 8n which store the user definition character files produced in other operating systems. Then the medium 8i is mounted on a magnetic disk drive device 7. The operating system and file names necessary for conversion are inputted based on the input message that is shown by a conversion origin designation means 4. Then the name of a converted user definition character file 6 is also inputted based on the message shown by a file name setting means 5. A file reading means 2i reads the user definition character file that is designated by the medium 8i. Then a file conversion means 3i converts the user definition character file to be converted into a form that is suitable to the user definition character file of the present operating system.
