PURPOSE: To automatically switch the brake functions required for the operation throughout the super-express railway zone and the conventional railway zone during a travel. ;CONSTITUTION: A transmitter 4 is provided on the ground near to the boundary of both zones, and a receiver 5 is provided on a railway car side. When the car reaches the vicinity of the boundary of both zones, the identification signal transmitted from the transmitter 4 is received by the receiver 5, and the receiver 5 outputs the switching command of brake functions to a CPU 7. The CPU 7 gains access to a ROM 8 according to the inputted switching command and specifies the program realizing the brake function in the zone to be entered. The brake function of a brake control device 2 is switched to the function suitable for the travel zone to be entered. When the brake command is inputted from a brake setter 1, the prescribed brake data read out from the ROM 8 are given to a power device 9 by the program realizing this brake function, and brake cylinders 3 apply brake force to wheels.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
