Seismic isolation / vibration control mechanism for a structure with a differential double lever mechanism

A vibration proofing/suppressing system including a first rigid member (1) extending and translatable in a first direction, a second rigid (2) member extending parallel to the first rigid member (1) and translatable in the first direction relative to the first member (1), a third rigid member (3) interposed between the first (1) and second rigid (2) member, and a fourth member (5) interposed between the first (1) and second rigid members (2). Guide means (4) are interposed between the first and third and fourth members and the second and third and fourth members for guiding translation of the third (3) and fourth members (5) along the direction of relative movement between the first (1) and second members (2). At least one first lever means (7) connects the first member to the fourth member, the at least one first lever means (7) being pivotally connected to a first point (f1) on the third member (3) such that the at least one first lever (7) means is swingable about the first point (f1). At least one second lever means (8) having a slightly different lever ratio than the at least one first lever means (7) connects the second rigid member (2) to the fourth member (5), the at least one second lever means (8) being pivotally connected to a second point (f6) on the third member (3) such that the at least one second lever means is swingable about the second point (f6).
