PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the operability for the work of projeting a hood part covering the chamber part of a slave shield machine when the slave shield machine singly digs and sectjre sufficient strength of the hood part. ;SOLUTION: A slave shield machine includes a skin plate, having a gutter part 20 and a hood part 21 formed integrally with the front of the gutter part 20, and a frame part 18 supporting both a cuter head 12 and a cutter head drive 1A. The skin plate is provided in such a way as to be slidable against the inner peripheral surface of a main shield machine and against the frame part 18 so as to project the hood part 21 to a position in front of the frame part 18, and a removable spacer 24 is provided between the gutter part 20 and the frame part 18.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
