PURPOSE: To attain ideally smooth steering by applying processing of addition, subtraction, attenuation and combination to input signals of channels A, B so as to produce a left output, a center output, a right output and a surround output thereby excluding an undesired signal. CONSTITUTION: A signal A is given to an input 58 of a decoder 60 through a variable delay circuit 54 and a gain circuit 56. A signal B is given to an input 66 of the decoder 60 through a variable delay circuit 62 and a delay circuit 64. The decoder 60 provides an output A to a line 70, an attenuation output Aa to a line 72, an output B to a line 76, an attenuation output Ba to a line 78, an attenuation output Ca to a line 74, and an attenuation output Sa to a line 80. The output signals are given to a matrix including combination devices 86, 88, 90, 92. The left output, the center output, the right output and the surround output obtained by the devices 86-92 are respectively given to speakers 102L, 102C, 102R, 102S.
