PURPOSE:To improve transfer efficiency by using the photoreceptive member which is specified in the respective refractive indices of a 1st layer which is a photoconductive layer consisting of a non-single crystalline silicon system, a 2nd layer which is a latent image holding layer, and a 3rd layer which is a sensible image holding layer and a specific developer. CONSTITUTION:The photoreceptive member constituted by successively laminating the 1st layer 102 which is constituted of the material of the non-single crystalline silicon system and exhibits the photoconductivity, the 2nd layer 103 having the function to hold latent images and the 3rd layer 104 having the function to hold the sensible images on a base body 101 is used and an insulating toner having =4.5mum and =9.0mum volume average grain size is used as the developer. The image formation is executed under the conditions under which the relation n1n2n3 is satisfied when the respective refractive indices of the 1st layer 102, 2nd layer 103 and 3rd layer 104 of the photoreceptive member are designated as n1, n2, n3. The efficiency of the transfer of the toner to a transfer material is improved in this way.
