PURPOSE:To manufacture the steel excellent in draft ratio and nonmagnetic properties required as a steel for dinnerware at low cost, at the time of manufacturing the austenitic stainless steel for dinnerware, by substituting a part of Ni as an austenite stabilizing element by inexpensive Cu and Mn. CONSTITUTION:As the material for quality dinnerware such as spoons, forks and knives, a non-magnetic austenitic stainless steel contg., by weight, 0.03 to 0.08% C, =1.00% Si, 0.70 to 2.00% Mn, =0.040% P, =0.030% S, 8.00 to 9.00% Ni, 18.00 to 19.00% Cr, 3.0 to 4.0% Cu and =0.06% N and having 30 to 40 R-value expressed by formula and 1.02 to 1.06mu magnetic permeability after subjected to 50% cold working after annealing is used. A part of Ni as an austenite stabilizing element is substituted by inexpensive Cu and Mn, by which the austenitic stainless steel for quality dinnerware in which the raw material cost is reduced as well as the increase of magnetism is reduced after worked into spoons or the like and after-treatment after worked is obviated can be obtd.
