PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new Ag-Ti-S ternary compounds useful as an ionic conductive material for solid ionic material by forming a green compact from a powdery mixture of sulfur and metallic silver and titanium or its compound and heating the green compact in vacuum. ;SOLUTION: This Ag-Ti-S ternary compound has a cubic crystal structure expressed by Ag8TiS6. The compound can be produced by mixing sulfur with metallic silver and titanium or its compound, compressing the mixed power to obtain a green compact and heating in an evacuated state. Preferably, metallic silver, titanium and sulfur or silver sulfide, trititanium tetrasulfide and sulfur are mixed to get Ag:Ti:S (atomic radio) of about 8:1:6 and the mixture is heated at 550-900°C in a sealed quartz tube.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
