PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of micropinholes in deposited metal and to improve weldability by specifying the hydrogen content in alloy powder for powder plasma arc welding. ;CONSTITUTION: The hydrogen content in the alloy powder for powder plasma arc welding is regulated to 0.5 to 20ppm. Stellite alloy Ni-50 Cr alloy powder is preferably used as the alloy powder. The adjustment of the atmosphere in an atomization chamber or the adjustment of the components of the gas to be used at the time of atomization in a process for production of the alloy powder is advantageous for regulating the quantity of the hydrogen to be incorporated into the alloy powder. The adjustment of the quantity of the hydrogen by increasing the quantity of the hydrogen to be incorporated into the alloy powder in a hydrogen reduction furnace after the production of the alloy powder or conversely by decreasing the quantity of the hydrogen by degassing is otherwise advantageous.
