Good fluidity, low moisture absorption methacrylic copolymer

摘要

PURPOSE:To lower the moisture absorptivity and to improve the flowability by polymerizing a specific 4-t-butylcyclohexyl methacrylate with methyl methacrylate and an ethylenically unsaturated compound. CONSTITUTION:A monomer mixture comprising 4-t-butylcyclohexyl methacrylate (A) wherein 50% or more of the stereoisomers is in the cis form, methyl methacrylate (B), and if desired, one or more ethylenically unsaturated compounds (C) of formula I [wherein R1 is H or CH3; R2 is (methyl-substituted) phenyl or a group of formula II wherein Z is a 1-8C (fluorine-substituted) alkyl] is polymerized in the presence of an initiator in an amount of 0.01-10wt.% of the mixture in a solvent at 0-150 deg.C for 120-150min, and the product is cured for about 1hr to obtain the title copolymer which has a weight-average molecular weight of 104-107 and comprises 2-30mol% component (A), 60-98mol% component (B) and 0-30mol% component (C).
