PURPOSE: To provide a polishing device which polishes the ferrule having many optical fibers with high quality at the same time by employing a method which polishes the ferrules with the optical fibers up to a finish process without replacing a holding tool in each polishing process once the ferrule with the optical fibers is fitted to the holding tool, and to provide the ferrule with optical fibers polished by the polishing method. ;CONSTITUTION: The tip end part of the ferrule 9 with the optical fibers fitted to the holding tool 10 is protruded by about 0.15mm from the lower surface of a spacer ring 1 provided integrally with the periphery of the lower surface of the holding tool 10. While the end surface of the ferrule 9 with the optical fibers is pressed against the surface of an abrasive film 5 stuck on the upper surface of a base disk 4, the base disk 4 is revolved to polish the end surface. A base disk which has small hardness is used for rough polishing finishing. The base disk is replaced with a base disk with high hardness for intermediate polishing.
