PURPOSE:To provide an alloy with high sea water corrosion resistance and strength in addition to excellent damping capacity by adding Cr and N as well as Mo and W to a ferromagnetic high Cr series ferritic alloy in a suitable balance. CONSTITUTION:A high corrosion resistant ferromagnetic high damping alloy is constituted with a componental system in which the content of five elements in an alloy compsn. is limited to, by weight, =0.05% C, 0.05 to 0.1% Si, 0.05 to 0.1% Mn, 1 to 3% Mo and 1 to 3% W, in which Cr and N are incorporated in such a manner that CrXN=0.5 is regulated in the limitation of 9 to 15% Cr and 0.005 to 0.05% N and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. This alloy has characteristics that its pitting corrosion resistance is increased by the addition of N in a well balance and corrosion resistance, strength and damping capacity are provided by the addition of Mo and W. This alloy is suitable as the material for high speed passenger boats, skyscraper located along the bay or the like.
